About the Ministry

Altared Lives Ministries officially came into existence as a non-profit faith-based organization in 2003. However, Donna McCormick (its founder) had been doing Bible teaching live on local radio in Lakeland, Florida intermittently from 1993 to 1999. The year 1997 marked the start of Altared Lives’ web site, but 1999 marked the year that Altared Lives’ live local radio show ceased.
Donna left the local radio scene for an exclusive venture onto the web, building the first web site for Altared Lives Ministries in 1997 and launching “Nu WYNE Radio” on Live365.com in 1999. The web site featured written devotional articles, humorous writings, and videos featuring Donna who taught Bible-based lessons. Nu WYNE Radio featured urban gospel music like Fred Hammond, Kirk Franklin, and Mary Mary on a 24/7 basis.

Nu WYNE Radio gave way to Altared Lives Radio, or “ALR,” which launched on Resurrection Weekend in 2002 on Live365.com. The station liner was, “Feel the resurrection power!” It was a testimony to Altared Lives again having a radio presence (under that name) after 5 years of silence.

Most people familiar with Altared Lives are most familiar with Altared Lives Radio, the Gospel hip hop Internet radio station. But Altared Lives Ministries, Inc. had a web presence 5 years prior to Altared Lives Radio. But the radio station quickly became the face of the ministry from the inception of ALR.

Eventually, ALR became an independent station when it left the Live365.com network and launched on Loudcity.net in 2005. Altared Lives Radio pioneered live webcasting of Christian hip hop music online among a handful of other Gospel rap stations. ALR powered Holy Hip Hop Radio of Atlanta, GA, from 2006-2008, featuring artists like Lecrae, Da’ T.R.U.T.H., Trip Lee, Mahogany, Cross Movement, Flame, Andy Mineo, HeeSun Lee, and so on. ALR streamed a mix of Gospel hip hop (90%) and Rhythm-&-Gospel (10%) 24/7 until signing off in September 2014 after 12 years of continuous webcasting.
